The most important thing first: your financial data never leaves your device

The RSU Tax Calculator runs entirely in your web browser using client-side JavaScript. When you enter your salary, number of shares, vest price, or any other financial figures:

• Those numbers are computed on your device, in your browser tab.
• They are never transmitted to our servers, stored in a database, or logged.
• We have no server-side code that could receive or record your inputs.
• Closing or refreshing the page discards all data — nothing is persisted unless your browser caches static page assets normally.

This is by design. Financial data is sensitive. Our business model (advertising) does not depend on collecting yours. You can inspect the calculator's JavaScript in your browser's Developer Tools to confirm this.

What we do collect

Analytics

We use aggregated, anonymized page-view analytics (such as Google Analytics 4) to understand which guides are most useful and how traffic reaches the site. This data is statistical — it may include your approximate country, browser type, and pages visited. It does not include financial inputs from the calculator.

Google AdSense

RSU Tax Calculator is supported by Google AdSense advertising. Google's ad-serving technology uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to serve relevant advertisements. Google may use your browsing behavior across sites to personalize ads. You can review Google's privacy policy and ad settings at policies.google.com/privacy. To opt out of personalized advertising, visit google.com/settings/ads.

Cookies

We store a single preference in localStorage: your dark/light theme choice. This is a local browser setting; it is never read by our servers. Third-party services (analytics, AdSense) set their own cookies per their respective policies.

Contact form

The Contact page displays an email address. If you choose to email us, your message is handled by our email provider in the normal course of email delivery. We use the information only to respond to your inquiry.

Children's privacy

RSU Tax Calculator is directed at adults dealing with equity compensation. We do not knowingly collect any information from children under 13 (COPPA) or 16 (GDPR/CCPA where applicable).

California residents — CCPA

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete it, and the right to opt out of its sale.

We do not sell personal information. The only personal data we might hold is an email address if you contact us. To request deletion or information, email us at hello@rsutaxcalculator.com.

EU/UK residents — GDPR

If you are located in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) including the right to access, rectify, erase, or port any personal data we hold.
